Madison, WI – April 10, 2024 – Lakeside International Trucks, in collaboration with 25 other industry vendors, proudly supported the 51st SkillsUSA Competition held in Madison, Wisconsin on April 9th and 10th. The annual event, spanning two days, showcased the talents of young and aspiring diesel technicians from across the state.
The competition, which featured 24 participants from high schools and post-secondary technical schools, was a testament to the dedication of individuals pursuing careers in the diesel technician field. Rob Durham, of Lakeside International Truck and SkillsUSA Diesel Competition Chair, played a pivotal role in organizing and leading this annual competition, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and nurturing talent in the transportation industry.
“This venue is an incredible opportunity for bright and skilled students to showcase their passion and interest in diesel tech work,” remarked Rob Durham. “It’s essential for everyone in the transportation industry to get involved locally and at the state and national levels to help promote and educate our communities and encourage schools invest in these programs. While some school districts are beginning to expose students once again to careers in automotive, the private sector has a unique opportunity to influence young people.”
