Madison, Wis. — Lakeside International Trucks, incollaboration with Midstates International Trucks, is proud to announce agroundbreaking initiative that will electrify the school transportationlandscape in Wisconsin. By the end of this year, six state-of-the-art electricschool buses will be delivered to the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District, withan additional bus set for the Random Lake School District.
This momentous achievement has been made possible through the Clean Bus Program Award, a grant funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021, which authorizes the EPAto offer rebates to replace existing school buses.
The Palmyra-Eagle Area School District is set to makehistory by being the first in the state of Wisconsin to register electric school buses. This achievement signifies a leap forward in the pursuit of cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions for schoolchildren.
Dousman Transport Company, in partnership with thePalmyra-Eagle Area School District, was awarded a grant totaling $2.4 millionto facilitate the acquisition and installation of six electric buses, alongwith the necessary electronic charging infrastructure. These cutting-edgeelectric school buses, purchased through IC Bus, are expected to be deliveredin the coming weeks.
Dr. Ryan Krohn, District Administrator of the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District, expressed his excitement about this momentous endeavor:“I am delighted to share the news about the successful EPA grantapplication, which is a part of our commitment to partnership, community, and apromising future for our school district. This grant will enable us to move ourfleet to 100% electric buses, which we anticipate will provide numerousbenefits aligned with our district mission.”
The introduction of electric buses will not only provide ahealthier and more eco-friendly transportation solution but also offer studentsa quieter and smoother ride to and from school. The International IC electricbuses are capable of traveling approximately 135 miles on a single charge,making them a reliable and sustainable option for the roughly 325 students whocurrently rely on school buses in the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District.
